Your Name
You, how could you leave;
 As a flower first breaking through;
 Stem snap thin.
 Roots, wither shallow.
 Petals, fragile bruise.

 You, who by name are by shame borne.
 A name stilled often upon my lips,
 Bitter on my tongue,
 Poison in my lungs.
 But I am yours, so you are mine, and so alas, your name.

 I often wonder to myself;
 Why? Was it easy? Was it hard?
 But deep within myself, I know I do not want to know the answers.
 For though I may not understand, I do forgive and love you still,

 And hearing any less from you,
 Would more than break my heart.
