Cold Abyss

Age six
Walking towards the edge
So hesitant
Just saying to myself 'It's only five feet'
Legs shaking so much causing a tsunami
Saying in my head 'You can do this'
Friends yell 'Just do it!'
Finally I get enough strength
I leap feeling like there's no end to this jump of a lifetime
I feel the coldness as I hit the flat surface of the dark and untamed place
Suddenly it feels as if a dream
Picturing and seeing a different place, where I wasn't originally
Feeling a strong pressure on my chest
Now everything is dark
Another strong push on my chest
My eyes open to see her over me, surrounded my light
Was it a guardian angel?
Now I am confused about what happened
I'm coughing water now
I here this guardian angel say 'You ok little guy, what are doing in the deep section?'
That was the last time I went that summer to that dark, cold place
I will never forget that day at the pool, when I almost drowned

I like this piece because I'm afraid of water too and this happened when I was pushed into the deep end of a pool and I hit my head...
