Outside My Window
Outside My Window
I look outside my window,
To see nothing but despair,
Buildings full of sadness,
Trees flying through the air.
The wind swirls and swirls,
Flying by my face,
I'm so scared I take a step,
Without leaving a trace.
My mother pats my shoulder,
She tells me to not be afraid,
But she is much bolder,
And I am still amazed.
Outside a funnels forming,
Destroying everything in its path,
It comes without a warning,
I must face its wrath.
Closer and closer it appears,
We hide in the cellar,
I look outside as it nears,
Faster than a propellar.
It finally approaches our house,
Burried in rubble we are,
Deeper and deeper it builds up,
6ft high in all.
I finally climbed out,
'Mama, Mama!' I screamed,
Frantically searching all about,
Lifting up every board and beam.
She walked over and held me,
'I'm alright,' she said,
She was just a little cut up,
A bruise or two on her head.
We were ok now,
As we stood there quietly,
Somehow we survived,
I sat there as she held me.
