Maybe in my Dreams


Here I am awake.
It's been a bad day.
I can't sleep and I'm wondering how my life ever ended up this way.
But there's a truth I know exists.
It's just so hard to find when your life is like this.

But maybe in my dreams, when I am asleep, when your face is all I see, smiling back at me, I'll be at peace, when you're holding me.
Do I have to wake up from this dream?

Last night I said good-bye.
You told me not to cry.
But you said it'd be a while until we could be together again.
And as you walked away I said,

'I'll see you in my dreams, when I am asleep, when your face is all I see, smiling back at me. And I'll be at peace, when you're holding me.
And I won't want to wake up from that dream. Because you know you are my everything.'

And then I turned to walk away and I heard a voice behind me say,

'It wasn't a dream. We weren't asleep. It's called love and that's what happened to you and me.'

And then you said you didn't want to go but you had to leave.
With a promise then, we said good-bye.
You promised you'd love me for the rest of your life.

Now my life is a dream that came true every day because I'll spend the rest of my life with you.
