you weren't there when I was first born

and I cried like a normal baby

I am just fine without your presence

you weren't there when I learned to walk

and i'm fast like lightning

I am just fine without your presence

you weren't there when I shot my first basket

and my shot is flawless

I am just fine without your presence

you wrote me from your jail cell

I still have every letter

I realized I am not fine without your presence

I don't remember your face, your smile or your laugh

I don't remember because it doesn't exist

I am not fine without your presence

All these years later, your still not here

I laugh out loud and smile like no other

but below my laugh, beneath my smile

I am not fine without your presence
