Microscopic crystals
In tones from off white
To amber to black.
You slip between my toes--
I treasure the feeling--
I lay, staring up at the sky,
Almost as peacefully comforting as you,
My love.
I wish I could stay here forever, and be covered in you.
You protect me from the outside world
The world that will never understand the relationship you and I share.
I am a mermaid, and you are the sand,
Together we know where we both stand.
The water is jealous;
It roars its envy
And crashes onto you with such rage and power.
The ocean is calling,
I will be back for you,
My serene sand.

The author's comments:
Being a girl who grew up around beaches most of my life, I have developed a deep fondness for the sand and the ocean. So, in the poem I discreetly depict my inner feelings & love for my enviroment.
