The Fall

I swung up in the air, feeling tall and powerful, like a skyscraper
in New York.

Enjoying peace and quiet while Michigan played State,
hoping for the best.
This would be a victorious day.

The evening light was warm and welcoming,
fun filled the air.

I had an inflexible grip on the swing as I flew up and down through the sky,
nothing could stop me.

I had no worry in the world,
in an hour or two twinkling stars would be visible

Without warning,my grip vanished into thin air,
the world stood completely still.

I could feel the wind on my back rise up,
my heart frozen.

With a hard crash I hit the ground,
air flooding out of my chest.

There was no feeling at all in my left arm, I couldn't breathe.
I lay there,
motionless.

My mind was a blank,
trying to process it all.

Like a frozen computer
waiting to jump back to life.

Everything turned back on,
tears swelling in  my eyes.
Screaming.

My arm still had no feeling,
it was broken for sure.

Clutching my limp arm I hobble slowly,
Still screaming.

Soon I was thrust into my mother’s arms
her warm hug already curing some pain.
Still screaming.

But a hug, no , matter how loving
would be able to fix this.
