The City that Never Sleeps
Visible to the stranger
Standing so high in the sky
Stories high
The wind rushing through their hair
But below, the windy silence is turned into
Cars and buses and taxis
Honking
People talking
And laughing
Even when the moon is out
This City Never Sleeps

Allies
Dark with a horrible stench
Home to the homeless
Home to the stray cats and dogs
Home to painters
Artwork painted up on the brick walls
Color flying out of every single painting
Each one with its own unique touch
The painter expressing
Hatred
Happiness
Sadness
Love
Jealousy
And much more

And above
Lights flickering off and on through out the distance
Mysteries lie
Unseen birds soaring through the sky
Hidden by those treasures
Those clouds
Those questionable things
Always floating in the sky
Always on the run
Just like
The City that Never Sleeps

And together
All those things combined
They make that city
On that island
What it is
New York

The City
That Never Sleeps
