forbidden flower
I dread each hour
banned from seeing
your radiating being
amidst bright blue petals
we have always been rebels

my best friend; she is a flower
ripped out of the ground and devoured
your father took away music
I can tell by those bruises
you tried to speak your mind
and now to a dungeon you are confined

but you have done nothing wrong you say
too bad they always get their way
have you tried to grow into a tree
and did your parents disagree
so now your lip is swollen
and your soul is stolen

they burned her down like a forest fire
because she was something to admire
but little did they know she is also the flame
the world tries to blame
she is also the sky
and everyone’s saddest goodbye

she is the one who showed you your favorite song
and listens even though she knows you're wrong
she has the earth in her eyes
and never has to disguise
to make it look like she’s interested
because her fascination is unlimited

she is as great as a monsoon
her potence stronger than the pull of the moon
on the tides ripping through the ocean
sparking unexplained human emotion
just by the way her eyes widen
while her world wants her to be dying
