night
open the rainbow curtains,
o, setting sun
let in the night,
let him spread his tattered cape
and cover us with starry skies
his robe surrounds us,
encasing us in black satin
he sneaks along in pointed shoes
showing us the moon
he chases winter,
the train of his cape rolling over summer
whistling through trees,
he brings the howling wolves
and hooting owls and screeching bats
he comes and goes
through rainbow curtains
O, welcome the night
welcome the wolves
and the endless midnight shade
in the skies above
welcome the moon and the stars
and all the nights glories
for soon it will go,
and day will begin again
