Look at it this way-

A second just passed, so did a minute and an hour,
As we blow out an extra candle each birthday,
We realize so much have we changed,
Yet yesterday seems no different than today.

We look back at the time when we were little,
We seemed to be in a different world altogether,
But then family changed, dreams changed, life changed,
Until we came to think nothing would last forever.

One thing never ceased though- friendship,
The one thing that we held on to when everything seemed to shake,
The pillar of strength, the very centre of our existence,
The only thing that could never be fake.

Yes, I know, what some people would say about friends
“They’ll be gone next week, next month or next year,”
But what would I get from being a cynic?
I would lose a whole of smiles, even if I saved a tear!

Nopes, I don’t want to be emotionally crippled,
Call me naïve, but I prefer to be happy,
So what if I believe everything is great?
If I were a realist, I’m sure life would be crappy!

I choose what I believe to be true,
And what puts me down, I conveniently forget,
I know that’s not the “ideal” way to live,
But, what the heck, I’m no grown up yet!

The future though is another story,
We’ll see to that when tomorrow actually comes,
No, don’t call me a procrastinator,
I’m just part of those “enjoy the moment” ones!!
