The Dressage Rider
There is a horse
Of brown and black
With mile-long legs
It’s coat shining with the light of the sun
It’s hooves
Black as night
The rider
Dressed in navy and white
Their top hat upon their head
They look ready,
But looks can be deceiving
The pair approaches the arena
The rider’s heart stops
Butterflies flutter in their stomach
They slowly exhale
There is no turning back.
Not now.
