they are the best things in your life
they babysit you
they take you in
they show you love
they keep you sane
show you how to respect others
tell you wonderful stories
always lend a hand
and give you hope

the days pass by
you both grow older
except your getting better

they tell you how much they love you
how they'll always be here
but you know inside their end is near

when your old enough to understand
they tell you they will soon be gone
and you start to cry
and wish it was done

seems you loose them all at once
your days go by slower
you cry yourself to sleep
inside you feel hollow

you know their in a better place
you know they really are there
you feel it in the wind
still feel them in the air

nothing can change the impact they have on you
you know what love they gave you was deeply real and true

you never let them go
they're always in your mind
forever and always
the best parents of your life

The author's comments:
I wrote this after my grandma died and my grandpa told me he might not live to see me graduate. i thought about my dead grandmothers and him and my grandpa who has brain problems and realized life was short. i wrote this as a token to grandparents everywhere and i think people can agree with the statements in this poem.
