Please rise for the pledge
The intercom sounds
From my lips no words are found
My arm does not lift
My weight does not shift
People turn to look
My face is still as stone
For I am standing alone
This pledge I do not take
It is a sin to make
I say no pledge, but I am proud.

The author's comments:
My mother is a Jehovah's Witness and my father is post-Catholic and now 'his own religion,' as most people in today's soceity. JW is more influential to my life and I choose not to say the pledge because I agree with pledging to no idol, country, or person - only God.
