lights, lights, cameras, cameras, action
Did, did, did, you get callbacks
Have you felt like you aren't even there?
Have you thought you aren't gonna be famous?
Have you said to yourself, "Nothing I do matters. I am worthless."
Turn'n the opportunity down just to show your frown.
But now it's time.
now it's time!
To mean that,
believe that,
dream that,
you can make it out there in the hard cold world.
Like your mama says, "You are imporant and that..."
you can do it.
Own it.
Strive for it.
But, you gotta want it, want it, want it!
Sometimes you should of, but you thought you shouldn't of cause you need everything to go your way....
but you have to reconsider and not be so bitter
theres always someone better
than you?
lets face it, but not see it.
Lets deal with it, but not steal it.
cause lets face it. no one easily makes it.
unless...
I'm not sure how to say it.
One has to be this and do that and one needs looks to look upon and skills to show off on though what matters most is that you are you and love the show biz.
so, next please!

This is very motivational and a get it together kind of poem! It seems like a poem that one puts on their dressing room mirror to get revved up for an audition or a performance. You can do it! Yay! Yet it is also very vulnerable expressing a real teenage struggle of not feeling self-worth. A lot of actors and performers who have struggled with such feelings often go into showbiz for this reason. However, it doesn't matter how popular they become, it doesn't take away that pain. I think of Marilyn Monroe who could not handle aging or all the celebrities who are in and out of treatment centers such as Britney Spears. I think we have to develop some sense of inner self-worth to truly find happiness. No amount of clapping can compensate for the empty feelings one feels towards oneself. And yet performing can be such a testament of one's abilities to move and inspire which is the natural proclivity of the actor, dancer, musician, etc. - how fun and exciting! Overall, the poem comes across like a refreshing splash of cool water to wake up to one's great potential!
