Better Early, Than Late

it is better to leave early,
rather to leave late.
for who knows what could be missed-
maybe an appointment or a date.
staying behind warrants
a longing for the past.
yet, it's best to move on,
for nothing ever lasts.
those who move forward, don't
know what they will find
but it certainly will be more
than those who stay behind.
those who keep on moving
will open the world of the unknown
they've become a sprouting seed,
while the dwellers haven't grown.
if i keep on going forward,
then everything'll be mine
those who stay behind have but
one thing: TIME.

The author's comments:
My name is Molly, I'm 17, and I wrote this poem after visiting family of mine. Every year I travel to Illinois to see my cousins for the holidays. However, my family is usually the last to leave at the end of the sojourn. This poem conveys the feelings I experience while watching family leave.
