best friends since 7th grade
we promised eachother
forever
the word came out with ease
like it would always be this easy
to be so close,
not a doubt in our minds
800 miles away

we told ourselves
distance means nothing
as long as we kept eachother
close to heart
we still talked everyday
I saw you from time to time
I missed you every secound we were apart
800 miles away

we planned on college together
as soon as highschool was over
we promised
but our promises faded
into daydreams
we spoke less and less
memories forgotten
800 miles away

I could feel the hidden anger in your voice
the way you held it back everytime we spoke
like a knife behind your back
one day I called you up
yelled at you, begged you to say
I hate you for leaving me
you refused
800 miles away

our summer together came and went
a new school year started
we both made new friends
I was happy for you,
but I couldn't help feeling left out
and the jealously grew within you
you were ready to explode
800 miles away

eventually I realized
you were nothing more than a memory
a childhood friend
the space for you in my future was gone
our lives moved on
the love I had for you
was burried in my heart
so deep I couldn't find it
800 miles away

until one day I got a phone call
your mother sobbing on the phone
you were in a car wreck
you were gone
I cried for months and months
asked myself why I didn't keep you close
all those broken promises
I still love you so much
800 miles away

when you look down from heaven
in a few years from now
I'll make you one more promise
this one I swear to keep
in my arms you'll see
a precious baby girl
named after you
800 miles away

Wow, this is so sad and inspirational. I liked this part-- "the love I had for you was burried in my heart so deep I couldn't find it" wow, nice. keep up the great poetry. the amount of repitition was just right and gave it a nice touch.
