This Kiss

January 14, 2009
By Kate Austin, El Cajon, CA

He pulls me behind a curtain and kisses me softly,
Touching my cheek oh-so-gently.
Breathing in sync, our hands intertwined,
This kiss is a different kind
You are the sun and I am the grass
Warming me up and slipping past
Below the horizon and past the trees
The stars come out and the warmth flees
Today is fleeting and the nights are long,
But with you in the sun is where I belong.
