Eyes
If I let you in --
I can see it in your eyes --
You will break my heart open,
Splatter its blood
All over the walls
Meant to protect me.
I can see how motionless I'll sit,
Half-dead,
The only movement left being
My veins pulsing in vibrant life,
Pushing blood out of the
Fist-sized hole in my chest.
Until you push me down
And close my glazed-over eyes
I'll stay, staring, as my
Insides drip down the walls
In slow motion,
Pausing to gather in pools on the
Tops of picture frames.
I still love you,
Even though you could
Do this to me,
So I avoid contact with
Your guileless eyes
And love you in silence
From behind these iron gates.
