Red was your favorite color.
Before you ever knew our lovelorn farewells,
You adorned yourself in that crimson scarf.
With one fiery glance of intrigue,
One blushing “Good night,”
You cradled me in a romantic ruby haze.

Red was our favorite reminder.
Before you adored our sweet farewells,
You gave me that crimson scarf.
With one bashful kiss of my rosy lips,
One blushing “I think I love you,”
You lovingly missed me with every
burgundy sunset.

Red was my sweetest downfall.
Before you nervously uttered any
troubled farewell,
You forgot to reclaim that crimson scarf.
With one rush of vermilion blood through your troubled veins,
One blushing “I have to go,”
You began to let my fiery, infatuated heart slip through your flushed fingertips.

Red was my bitterest mistake.
Before you abandoned me in a deafening farewell,
You took away that crimson scarf.
With one blazing semblance of indifference,
One blushing “Good-bye,”
You left me with burning memories of deepest auburn.
