Mother Mother Burning Bright
Mother mother burning bright
In the darkness of the night
Burning bright or pretty star
Are you the one that shines so far?
Mother mother burning bright
Once again a sleepless night
Once your face appraised my eyes
Now it dwells where darkness lies
Mother mother burning bright
Once again I’ll call tonight
Every night I sob your name
Such a sorrowful and endless game
Mother mother burning bright
How I wish to sleep tonight
To once again feel your arms
To feel your warmth, smell your charms
Mother mother burning bright
I hold back with all my might
A little girl of seventeen
Must seem a mother of serene
Mother mother burning bright
Shut the door, turn off the light
