Twisted

As I'm caught in he ocean inside me,
My heart twists until it breaks.
My happiness lasted briefly,
And sadness will take its place.
The current is pushing me one way,
My heart is pushing the other.
As my hopes and wishes fade,
My core will start to suffer.
This wasn't a choice; this absence,
But the truth, it grows, each hour.
I'll try to regain my strength,
If it's within my power.
My skin is growing colder,
Just as my heart seems to do.
I try to reflect on good memories,
But it's hard when there are so few.
So as twisted as my mind is now,
I'll try to find a way.
It doesn't seem so now,
But tomorrow is another day...
