Alone
Alone
As the sun fades into the open horizon,
Quiet clouds roll in quickly.
Rain begins to fall, shattering the lake,
And the distant memories.
There was no true goodbye.
Haunted by what could’ve been,
Hidden tears stream down her cheeks.
She watches as cruel waves crash.
The sand becoming squishy,
Possibly a trap.
She is invisible now.
Alone.
Blind to those who are not.
Just a bystander.
The girl without a face,
In a place she doesn’t belong.
Alarmed by the forgotten cry of the seagulls,
She moves further down the
Abandoned beach.
Walking along the sand,
The water stretching to meet her feet.
Her foot steps, heavy,
Leave nothing but a disappearing trail.
The sand is gripping, consuming her.
Slowly sinking in, and suddenly,
She’s gone.
