Abandoned
The broken windows and shards of glass
Made by lives not meant to last
A battered cottage collecting dust
Has idle bikes with years of rust
Abandoned town, all life is gone
Their actions had been right and wrong
Blacktop paved streets had once been swept
No longer traveled on since tears were wept
No stray dogs roam in the streets
Not even birds make homes here to keep
The wind picked up, wailed like a cry
The forced, strong air uncovered a sign
The deserted town’s name was revealed,
But no other details did it yield
These collapsing houses had once been homes
Lives had lived here long ago
Who would want to stay where life is gone?
Their actions would be right and wrong
