the Game
I’m losing the game I never wanted to play.
And I knew the outcome before they knew
But I played dumb to keep them fooled.
I was swept into the possibilities; letting them blind me
I fell in head first-again against my secret cautions
I wanted it to be true
And for a while I could barely see, it was.
But the invisible tides of emotions swept away again leaving me empty
So, now I sit here with the unseen scars of experience and regret
Hoping that I won’t lose again.
