Set Myself Alight

I might set myself alight
Just to have that feeling
that I'm really alive.
It's just a drive,
It's just a drive.

And I sit here, listening to Springsteen,
Feeling old already
at only sixteen,
If you know what I mean,
If you know what I mean.

Last night I went and looked at the shoeprints
You left in the sand,
Wishing you were still here
And holding my hand,
Sounds like a plan,
Sounds like a plan.

And I know what it's like to go up in smoke,
Hiding with all your secrets
beneath a cold winter's cloak,
With you, turning into human smoke,
Turning into human smoke.

I took the title from a book based around the events leading up to the Holocaust, but loved the way the words sounded, even apart from the originally very sinister, dire meaning; and decided to flip it around and use it in a nice context.
