You and Me Together

January 10, 2009
By Maryam Alli, Laurel, MD

When it’s cold outside and the rain is falling down on me
All I can do is stand here and look pretty
Not knowing that your presence is behind me.
Your ignition is what keeps my heart and soul burning within
Without you I’m like a flower with no pedal.
I'm like the earth with no sky.
A school with no teachers
I’m like a child with no home

Let's keep that fire burning
So we can be like the universe with many stars
Be like the bubbles in my soda
Be like the keys on the piano
Let’s just keep it plain and simple
We can be like a couple
You'll be the North
I'll be the South
Knowing that our forces are attracted together
