Adventure
The winter ice.
So perfectly serene.
So breathless in its beauty.
The snowflakes are hitting my face,
and melting on my outstretched tongue.
My mom is yelling out the door for me
to wear my gloves.
I smile at her and pull them out.
My eyes glance to the forest.
The snow covered pine trees.
I remember my younger self running up to the trees,
and knocking the snow off the lowest branches.
My father would call out to me to stop it,
that I was going to catch pneumonia.
I remember trying to build snow forts with my siblings.
Snowmen with my dad.
I remember packing op the ski equipment into the car,
and being all bundled up.
Going down the hill.
I still feel the wind on my face.
Then going home and having some nice
hot chocolate.
I forgot to breathe for a second.
My time traveling can do that to me.
The current moment is snapped back in.
As the bus pulls up to drop me off at high school.
