Rain and Piano Duet

January 5, 2009
By Anonymous

Rain falls, steadily, readily,
Rinsing away grime.
Rooftops slick with drip drops,
Rhythm to nature’s rhyme.

Pounding on the window pane,
Pouring out the skies,
Puddles pooling in the road,
Poor pure clouds who cry.

And no rain reaches inside,
As the piano sings.
All the notes harmonize,
Accented chords ring.

The author's comments:
The piano in our house is right by this big window where you can look out on our street. I love rainy days and I just wanted to write a poem about the two (music and rain) and put a cheerful spin on it. So often poems about rain are melancholy.
