Secrets to Reveal

January 5, 2009
By Shalyse Swift, Bethlehem, PA

Mom I have a secret
A secret worth your respect for me
A secret worth your love for me
Your trust and Honor as well
This secret will put me in another light
A darker light
A shameful light
In your eyes I will not exist
I will be one of "THEM" to you
One of them to "THOSE"
As I clean my body of fear
And my mind of pessimism
I pile on the guilt of the aftermath of my revealing this secret to you
I pray for your forgiveness
But what I live is sin
I pray that soon after I come out of hiding the ridicule won't soon begin
I will love you forever and always
Even though at times it may not seem
But my secret is that mom...
I've switched teams
