Beat beat beat

Lying in your arms
Passing time by
My head pressed against your chest
Beat beat beat.

Baby I can hear your chest move steady
My arms strewn across your body
Clinging to you like an infant
Beat beat beat.

Sight floods through my eyes
I grin a thankful smile
Your face is so clear
Content and secure never felt so good
Beat beat beat.

Inhale the thin air around me
Sight floods through my eyes
Something slightly different this time
Beat beat beat.

A pillow cradled in my grasp
Wait, baby where did you go?
Confined in a still room
Abandoned with an echo in my ear
Beat beat beat.

This room never saw you
My heart mimicking the sound of yours
Imagination running wild again
Dreams and reality are too closely related.

Beat beat beat.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this poem by a dream I had a few nights ago. Everything in this dream seemed so real that when I woke up I was dissapointed. I could hear my heart beat when waken, which while dreaming was his heart (the boy in the poem). I hope any readers will be inspired, to see what I saw and feel what I felt. My main point? Imagination is powerfull.

Wow I love this poem. I can relate, I've done more or less the same thing
