I've been considered rich by men
Yet I know they are wrong
Though I have much, I'm incomplete
And what I lack is song

My home, my land, I'd give away
Green fields and timbers strong
For just a hint of melody
A whisper of a song

Finest silk and purest gold
Though yearned for by the throng
Are worthless as mere dirt to me
When they're compared to song

All the treasures Earth can yield
All I've worked for, hard and long
All my richest gain I'd give
For just a whisper of a song
