Pieces

January 3, 2009
By Riley Lacalli, Seattle, WA

The pieces tell a story,

The depth of where I am from,

It’s only a distant memory.

I see what I used to be,

The acts I committed,

The pieces tell a story.

Every single trophy and picture,

Although they shine like the sun,

It’s only a distant memory.

The mistakes run by slowly,

The people I have let down,

The pieces tell a story.

The random medley,

The letters and notes make my dimples clear,

It’s only a distant memory.

Change has a fee,

I start to forget where I’m from,

The pieces tell a story,

It’s only a distant memory.
