The Memory of Volleyball

I no longer play competitively
But it’s still my favorite sport
I miss the bruises on my hips and knees,
The loud voices
They filled the room
I love the sweat that dripped from my face to the court,
Conditioning so hard I nearly passed out
The quick paced action
The memory of my teammates
We became more like a family than a team
Missing the competition at the out of state tournaments
Always being surrounded by other people who were just as passionate as I am
I still enjoy playing
But it’s not the same
Without the jersey on my back
But now with every bump, set, and spike
I only picture myself with my team
Remembering the practices
Playing volleyball always brought a smile to my face
