Need Love?

See it but never feel it.
Get close, only to push it away.
“Don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone”
Epitome of my life.
What is wrong with me?
What makes me so un-lovable?
Can someone remove this defective sign from my forehead,
And replace it with a kiss.
I want more than mediocre.
I want someone to miss.
Do I ask for too much?
Are my requirements unachievable?
My heart remains unconquered, unattained.
I’m tired of fairy tale endings,
Silly thoughts put in my head by unrealistic, but hopelessly believable movies.
They are all the same.
Girl meets boy. Girl messes it up. Boy forgives girl.
Happily Ever After.
At least they let on that relationships have problems.
I want raw, unrelenting love.
The real deal.
No movie, novel, or episode of “Sex and the City” could ever touch.
Left alone, drowning in thoughts,
Who else in the world could need love,
Like I need love?

I really like this. And no, you're not the only one that feels this way. I always feel like I get so close to love, and push it away.

No, I didn't think that's what you said. I was actually talking about the author of this poem..it's all good. But yeah, I'm usually the one to push love away because I'm fearful or too independent or scared or something of that nature...it's tough, and I'm working through how to open up myself more to people so they can love me for who I REALLY am.

Love is always tough. Even when its true love. We just learn how to be strong and have a good friend to lean back on whenever we need it. Thats what i do. My best friend is the best. And we gotta remember, three things. 1)What doesnt kill us, only makes us stronger. 2)Our best friends will love us no matterwhat and they will always be there and 3)It takes time for love, and its hard now, but when it finally finds us, the struggle and wait will be worth it.

Is the lyric "don't know what you've got til it's gone" from Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell?

I absoluely love that song!

Your poem is fantastic, I really like the way you capture your feelings so efficiently!

maybe if you were to stop trying to find love, it will find you.. just a thought.. but nice poem. I feel the same way at times. but then I realize I can find love in my own way, and I dont need a "partener" to be happy.

Soon after I read(and reread) your poem, I had the feeling that I instantly had to tell everyone about it! Which I did XD by posting a link on facebook - I hope you don't mind.

It's rather breath-taking how I can easily relate to this poem so very much which is one of the reasons why I loved it.

Good job!
