The Musician and the Writer

December 30, 2008

I am so small in this world
Twisted by every turn of the wind
I cannot survive on my own
If I am to truly live
But then I hear the music
The subtle charm at play
Brings out the words so hidden
By the nights I laid awake
I’ve dreamt of you in nightmares
And dreamscapes far away
Still the music moves me
To speak the words I cannot say
My humble, troubled spirit
Longs to tell you so
But I must look up to you
From a valley down so low
Your voice is like an echo
Of the music in my mind
It sings the songs of the somber
And soothes the warring times
My confidence is pen and ink
And yours the instruments
A musician and a writer
Beauty and elegance
Do not fear undying fate
For fate has served us well
If I am not in your heaven
I will be left unto their hell
But then I hear the music
The teardrops on a page
Music written by heavy hearts
And words by solemn graves
Memories of heresy
Are memories long ago
Evermore I hear you sing
The song of the unknown
For whom knows the future
But the future is in His hands
May He look upon us
May He understand
If we are to live forever
If immortal we are to be
What role does age play
When heaven is all we see?
