The dead of night
Laughter is all you hear at first
Footsteps you sense next
Round the corner you see feet emerge
Finally bodies follow
Two people in the dead of night
Carefree, and distant as the stars
You look in and observe the scene
You move and laughter fades
Your lives, they cross for seconds
Then, alas! You part again
Two realities collide in the dead of night
And fade to shades of gray
Both parties continuing down their paths
Back to their separate lives again
