Opening Up

January 2, 2009
By Mike McGinn, Hoffman Estates, IL

First you’re here,
Then you’re gone,
I don’t get it,
What went wrong?
I was young,
The price I paid,
Young and naïve,
Thought I had it made.
So confused,
Couldn’t comprehend,
One hard stretch,
Then came the end.
Seven passed,
Now you’re gone,
Always in my heart,
From dusk to dawn.
Now it’s clear,
Through the flames,
Tears and chills,
No one to blame.
So much change
Through years past,
Different plot,
Different cast.
Been so rough,
One rocky road,
Soon to be even land,
For then will be time to bode.
