Don't Forget Me
Azheimers
It can change a grandmothers life
but mostly those around her
something irreversible
and no one can avoid it
Grandma could tell of her earlier years
but not lastnights dinner
I saw her every day for a week
only for her it had been five years
With her just getting worse
she couldn't live alone
Seeing her wake from her nap
I bent down to hug her
Hearing the question "Who are you?"
I ran in tears
Then after waking again she called me by name
Coming home to sad news
stopped my heart with pain
One can't forget her fathers tears
not even with Alzheimers
It can change a grandmothers life
but mostly those around her
