My Confession
The mirror captured me
The whispered truths from my lips, made me
See things hidden,
Silenced for so long.
Lost
In depth of my soul
The love I found there wasn't new,
Wasn't pretty,
Wasn't perfect.
No, I found love used, blind, tortured
But love all the same.
Love I've ran from, lied to.
Forced to admit, to sacrifice my heart,
I now own nothing.
This pain is mine to bear,
Mine to love,
Mine to lose.
You want none of it,
The sorrow and the tears
You're blind to the bliss
Buried beneath your own weight.
But tell me now, friend.
If you knew,
Would you care?

I wrote this poem at a time when I realized, at one of the worst times of my life, that I was in love with someone, who could never, would never, love me back.
