The Princess
A baby princess in a small town
In her torn and tattered princess gown
Writes letters to her daddy who is far away
But will surely come to visit her someday.
He sits on his tall throne with his golden crown
Not caring that he is letting his princess down
And she tells everyone about her wonderful king,
Unaware that his throne and crown hide something.
After years and years of believing in the man,
Her daddy comes back home, just the way she planned,
But with him is a young son and a wife
And she begins to see how his new life
Has transformed this king into an alligator
So try as he might, he cannot seem to bait her
To love him the way she had years ago
Because her dreams are shattered and her tears now flow.
Her life had been nothing but mirrors and smoke
Because her beloved king daddy was nothing but a joke.
Princess has grown up, and daddy has grown old
And the warm princess heart is a little bit cold
And on her throne with her new golden crown,
In her tears will our princess drown.
