Don't Send Me an Angel

Don't send me an angel,
I have one here, I know her name.
Don't give me a shelter,
I'd rather stand out in the rain.
Don't tell me a prayer,
I have one burning in my heart.
All I really want, my friend,
Is to know I've done my part.

Don't give me an answer,
I know you'll simply lie to me.
Just ask me a question,
I'll answer with great sympathy.
Don't send me religion,
I've got a God, I don't need more.
I only need ambition,
To find out what I need to soar.

Give me one last empty wish,
I'll grant it if I can.
Don't give me things I don't need, which,
Reveal that which I am.

I hide myself in an empty shell,
Come out in the dark of night.
Claiming that I come from hell,
But now I see the light.

Apologies are behind me,
It's too late to fix my wrongs.
All that's left is to change my ways,
And break the habits I built so strong.

So as I take my path,
I will turn my back.
I would take your wrath,
But I've left my track.

Follow if you want to,
There's not much for you there.
Send supplies for winter,
I'll send them back,
But thanks for showing you care.

I'm on my own.
Flying solo.
Don't tell me that I can't.

Don't send me an angel,
I have one here, I know her name.
Don't give me a shelter,
I'd rather stand out in the rain.
Don't tell me a prayer,
I have one burning in my heart.
All I really want, my friend,
Is to know I've done my part.
