I Am Poem

I am sharp and curious,
I wonder how the universe began,
I hear the clip-clop of horse’s hooves,
I am on an imaginary island in a tree house,
I want to ride all horses for joy and love,
I am sharp and curious,
I pretend my bike is a horse,
I feel happy on the outside, but inside worried and scared,
I touch other people in their hearts to make them feel better,
I worry that my mom won’t be able to pay off our bills,
I cry when mean jokes are made,
I am sharp and curious,
I understand when people are hurt or sad,
I stand up for friends when they are picked on,
I dream of monsters chasing me,
I try new things,
I try to do things that could help the world,
I hope I am able to ride a lot of horses more,
I hope to own a horse soon,
I AM WHO I AM.

The author's comments:
This poetry was written when my house flooded in Hurriane Denis, 2005. It was a hard time, so I wrote for stress-relief.
