Three small words,
pressing against unyielding lips,
tedious difficulty,
with the slow blockage of the tongue
slurring the poignancy of years’ affection.
Until, that is, you touch me,
and the heart beats,
the jaws unclench,
the emotions untangle
"I love you."
The heart speaks.
