Novelty
How many walked this snowy path
and stood atop the mountain peak
while taking in its sights?
They claimed discoverer's glory,
despite the faded ghostly steps,
now long since swept away.
From otherworldly ice and winds,
they plant their fleeting flag of feat
and bask in weak sunrise.
What was once claimed is claimed again,
paraded, flaunted more until
another claims again.
