City Lights
Stepping out of my apartment door
I glance up into the sky
seeing nothing but millions of bright lights
like the stars in the sky of a cloudless night
I begin to walk, waiting for the lights to fade behind me,
but they stay strong
Appearing at dusk and vanishing with the first rays of sunlight
They are man’s way of bringing light to darkness
The artificial glow floods the streets
blending with the shine of the stars
Millions of blinding sparks of fire,
lighting up my city.
