by the time this poem you have read
you will know the true meaning of the color red
red like blood
spilled by armies to make a flood
red like love
on the wings of a dove
red like metal in a blacksmiths' shop
red like the eyes of a dedicated cop
red like the ink in which i am writing
red like the car in which i am riding
red like the sky in the evening
these all give red its true meaning
