The Other Side of Valentines Day

December 14, 2008
By Anonymous

What a glorious day for every lover
With no worries and no cares
But to stop and listen,
Listen to the silence,
The silence as cold as Death,
But do not fear, it won't hurt you,
It's just a person without a heart.

Be happy, laugh, and jump around,
Just don't rub it in our faces,
Because we can't be changed.

We are the icy cold feeling you get when you're alone.
We are the fear that makes you want to scream at night.
We are the living.
We are the disfigured and tormented.
We are the ones without hearts.
We, are the Other Side of Valentines Day.

The author's comments:
What inspired me to write this piece, were all the broken hearts in the world without a lover on Valentines Day, who saw, or knew people were rubbing the love they had in their faces.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my work, and to comment. Of course, I will keep writing poetry, and my stories. If my poems are bad, tell me, and I will improve on what work needs to be done. I plan to see one of my poems in the top 5-10-20, I would love to see that happen. With the help of you fellow poets, please help me achieve that goal. And I shall help you all do the same.

I know what you mean. I felt like that every year until last year when I had a valentine. But, hey, we live on. This is not something we need to ponder over. Although I do understand the empty lonely feeling in your gut and heart. =(
