Who we wish we were
We watch our lives unfold on the screen
It reminds us of who we used to and never will be.
We used to run and scream and sing.
Now we sit and wish and dream.
We hope for change,
but we criticize those who try.
We try to fit into the cardboard cutout of who we try to be.
We cut out magazines.
We cover ourselves with security.
We are afraid.
Afraid to admit that we are what we said we never would be.
