Night's Grasp
A strip of red paints black and blue
The Golden finds a faded hue
And windows seek a place to hide
Until the earth receives its due
The lantern’s pallor, dim and frail
Is only light from Dark’s detail
How can your sight Romantic be
When poison seethes and senses fail?
Frost bitten breath, with me you duel
But still I know your purpose cruel
For you, the part of lovely grace
But humanity, they play the fool
You trespass on a hallowed ground
A place of blissful concord found
but fingers pierce the softened soil
and snatch each trace of ease profound
Oh sickening night with farce of rest
Release your hold on human flesh!
Sink into light and remedy grant
To heavy vein and gasping chest!
